My 6-year-old’s Christmas Plan

I’m more than slightly in awe of my youngest. She is so organised – definitely more than I am and she makes lists and always has a plan! I not a ‘list’ person. I don’t (normally) plan. I like to wing it. I rely on my superior brain to remember things which is failing me frequently now. My little one on the other hand is a ‘list’ child. She has a plan for almost everything. Like this recent plan for Christmas. It’s even pictorial! She’s 6. She knows what she wants and is making sure she gets it. And yes, …

Being a Mum in 2017…Am I ‘SICK’ or What!

I tell you it’s hard work. Being a mum in 2017 is REALLY hard work. It’s not the looking after the children – it’s the keeping up with them and all the ‘in’ things especially the manner of speaking. In my days, ‘Sick’ meant you were unwell or as we grew older – ‘Don’t be sick’ meant that what the person was saying made you want to puke. Much like a ‘sick joke’. Now, a fashionable shoe is ‘Sick’ meaning it’s very ‘in’. And it’s not said like ‘Sick’, it’s more like ‘Siiiick’ with a special lilt making it sound like …

As we were leaving, I handed my little girl a use and throw camera. Now, that’s the purpose of this post. She took it from me and looked at it closely. The first thing she asked was  – ‘Where is the screen?’ ‘What Screen?’ I asked, knowing full well what she was missing. ‘You know the one which shows you what you are taking …

Jadyn has been after me to get her a Monster High doll. I have never given in to that request as I really didn’t see why they are so popular. Review:Baby and Child First Aid Course with British Red Cross

When I applied to do this course with the British Red Cross I thought it would be handy with 3 children. When I actually went to sign up for the course, I realised the course was 5 hours plus 1 hour lunch and 3 hours of travelling and I was wondering whether it was worth the effort. I thought it would be a long and boring day being taught things I already knew. I mean I have 3 children and have managed so far. Right? Wrong. I learnt so much more about dealing with emergencies with children. I am so …
