Back to School in 2021

I can’t believe that more than a year has passed since the children came back from from one afternoon and we were informed that schools would be closed until further notice. It began with 2 weeks and then steadily extended until the whole of the 2020-21 school year was online.  Online school worked well for the children – academically. Socially – it was a drag. Especially for my eldest – she missed her entire Junior year of actually attending high school. For the two younger ones too, it certainly didn’t help. My son didn’t get to go to his new …

Jacintaz3 in San Francisco

I’ve always wanted to visit San Franscico – yes I know there are many places I’ve always wanted to visit. But San Francisco has been one at the top of my list (Bucket list, that is!) Having relocated to Southern California, this was a dream that became a reality.  And to top it all off – this was a road trip.  We set off pretty early in the morning hoping to miss the traffic and to a large extent we did just that. Left at 5 am and arrived San Francisco around 1 pm. Just in time to check into …

Gregg’s chicken Bake Recipe – Tried and Tested

Greggs Chicken Bake

We would love going into Greggs in the UK for a quick snack or lunch when we were shopping on the high street. Steaming hot sausage rolls, chicken bakes, doughnuts (we love the caramel custard ones – my mouth waters just thinking of it) and the cupcakes with the rings that change to suit the season. Greggs Chicken Bake is our go-to favourite.  Being in the US means we miss these little nuances that were part of our lives. I miss it terribly. But unable to walk into a Greggs shop doesn’t mean that we cannot have a chicken bake …

I’m back…

It’s been some time since I dedicated time to my blog and I thank my readers for still checking in. The move to the US, looking for work, getting settled here, Covid-19…it’s been a long journey. I hope to share some nuances of each aspect soon but for now I just wanted to check in with you.  To let you know that I am back.  That I will be writing more frequently and sharing some bits and pieces of my life and travels with you like I used to.  And to start, I wanted to share some images I’ve captured …

Night of Lights OC review and Giveaway

We recently visited the Night of Lights OC event and it was a great way to start the holiday season.  Night of Lights OC is a magical and immersive winter wonderland drive-thru experience at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa. From the safety of their own vehicles, guests are guided through a clearly defined mile-long course featuring over one million lights, themed holiday scenery, special effects such as snow flurries and bubbles, and animated light shows and tunnels synchronized to music through a car radio or smartphone. It was a beautiful experience and to add to spirit …

Mind The Gap – Board Game Review

With the children being on devices for long periods of the day due to online learning, we have been trying hard to get them involved in activities that don’t involve screens. We ‘try’ not to go on devices after dinner and most often play some board game or the other.   One of the most recent games that we tried is Mind The Gap. For all my British friends, this would be a familiar saying especially if you’ve travelled in the underground in London. But, it has nothing to do with that. Mind The Gap is a game about the …

Introducing…Crayola Colors of the World

We were recently introduced to Crayola Colours of the World range and I am so glad to be able to introduce this to you. When I showed my children the collection, I received a – ‘Finally, thank goodness!’ And yes, this has been a long time coming. It’s not been easy trying to represent different races through different skin and hair tones with crayons (Painting is a little easier as you can mix colors to suit). Thanks to Crayola, this is no more. The Colours of the World collection has different skin and hair tones to accurately represent themselves and …
