Jadyn is a huge Jacqueline Wilson fans and has read most of her books.
She loves reading and I like encouraging this as I believe that reading is a fantastic pastime/hobby/interest. While I do have a Kindle and reader apps on my phone and devices, I always encourage the children to read books. I think the printed versions are so much more interesting.
We were recently invited to review the new Jacqueline Wilson book – The Butterfly Club. It is the author’s 101st book. (Wow!!)
Tina is a triplet, but she’s always been the odd one out. Her sisters Phil and Maddie are bigger and stronger and better at just about everything. Luckily, they look after teeny-tiny Tina wherever they go – but when the girls start in scary, super-strict Miss Lovejoy’s class, they’re split up, and Tina has to fend for herself for the first time. Tina is horrified when she’s paired up with angry bully Selma, who nobody wants to be friends with. But when Miss Lovejoy asks them to help her create a butterfly garden in the school playground, Tina discovers she doesn’t always need her sisters – and that there’s a lot more to Selma than first meets the eye.
What we thought of it.
We loved the book.
As it is targeted to slightly younger children than the author’s normal target age, it was easy to read and it flowed well.
We loved the storyline. It is all about friendship and how there is more to people than meet the eye and it’s always nice to give people a chance and get to know them.
The illustrations are a perfect fit to the story.
We really liked how Ruby and Garnet from Double Act feature in this book too.
Jacqueline Wilson triumphs once again.
Here are some thoughts about the book from the lovely author herself –
Disclaimer: I was sent a copy of the book to review with my daughter. All ideas and opinions are my own.

My daughter received this to review as well, she is a huge fan of Jacqueline Wilson, as am I 🙂 thanks for sharing with #readwithme
I’ve read several good reviews of The Butterfly Club and am now really intrigued to read it. I haven’t read any Jacqueline Wilson (yet!).
