Why my 8-year old daughter likes PktMny

I love PktMny and the concept behind it as you will probably know if you have read my other posts but what does my daughter think of it? The card and the account is after all hers. Jadyn is 8 years old and is learning the value of money. There has been a positive change in her saving and spending behavior and she’s learning about budgeting and earning money. I decided to do a quick interview with her to find out her “ifs” and “buts” and she normally has many!  Me: Do you save money? Jadyn: Yes I do. Me: And …

How Children Can Earn Pocketmoney and Learn to Spend Wisely

I like the idea of children getting pocket money so they learn to spend responsibly. What I like even more is for children to learn to earn their money. And no – this does not mean I support child labour! I believe that children should learn that money does not come easy (unless of course one is lucky enough to win the lottery or come in for a huge inheritance) and it is the result of hard work. I have always instilled in my children the importance of spending wisely and saving up for something they really want. I also insist …

Safe Online Spending with PktMny

I was quite surprised to hear the story on the news where the little boy raised a huge bill on his father’s credit card while playing downloadable games. What also amazed me was that 28% of children aged between 5 -12 own a smartphone. Now in my household, my children do not have their own phones but my husband and I have downloaded a few games that they can play and we frequently get asked ‘ Mummy/Daddy can I play on your phone?’ Even my little (almost) 2 year old can handle a touch screen quite well and loves to …

Why I still like PktMny after 7 months use

I had an opportunity to join and test PktMny when it was in the Beta stage through Britmums and was certainly pleased that I was chosen to be a part of it. Now 7 months down the line, I am still very happy to be a part of this project. What is PktMny? PktMny helps to teach children to save and earn money. It involves signing up for a parent account and a child account that is controlled completely by the parent. By this I mean that as a parent, you are able to decide how much a child gets …

Theft is Legal – Book review

Book Description:

Those of us who have always lived in America speak of the economic “crashes” our country has experienced and survived. However, we have never experienced genuine economic collapse, or the terrifying reality of a country where central banking and inflation have led to anarchy. Author Svetoslav Elenkov gives a uniquely valuable first-hand account of life in a country torn apart by economic disaster, and shows the connections between money, central banking, inflation, and the real impact on everyday people of corrupt and short-sighted government policies. Experience what it is like to live in a world where violence erupts as protests are ignored; where the powerful send men armed with shields and batons to assault citizens innocently celebrating at a party. Immerse yourself in a world where government buildings are attacked, where AK-47s open fire, where RPGs wreak havoc. Learn about what causes these extreme conditions, and what we, as citizens, need to know about both prevention and survival in a worst-case scenario.

 Review

Well written and informative, this book makes you rethink finance and politics.

I love the story about the pastries and hyperinflation. There is never a good time when you can afford something. I also enjoyed reading the bit where the US believing they are capitalists are somewhat socialistic in their socio-economic plans. The concept of insurance and how it is put across by the author was most interesting. The idea of the have nots thinking they never progress has been dealt with impressively as progress and success is always measured by most people in terms of wealth. In this case even having drinking water is progress!!

This book addresses core issues but does not make it heavy for the reader. It has an easy flowing style that holds the readers attention from start to finish.

Definitely highly recommended.
