The Usborne Beginner’s Cookbook Review

The Usborne Beginner’s Cookbook by Fiona Watt

BJC2

A great book for beginner cooks. This cookbook begins by telling you about safety in the kitchen and equipment. It also explains cooking words and gives some hints on things like peeling and using a garlic press. There is also a convenient conversion chart to use while cooking. It teaches how to cook pasta and the different types of pasta. This is a great addition as pasta is a favourite with most children.

There is a great collection of recipes like salads, pies, pasta, pizza, vegetarian cooking and cakes and cookies. Each step of the recipe has a small illustration and there are beautiful pictures of the completed dish.

We enjoyed going through the book and deciding what recipes to try out. We have already tried a few out and they came out perfect. What is especially nice is the spiral binding that makes it easy to turn pages while cooking.

We would definitely recommend this book to children who love to cook and those who want to take those first steps into the kitchen.
