This post has been difficult to write – simply because that there is so much I want to talk about but it will obviously be a very, very long post.
If you are planning to visit the Warner Bros London Tour and don’t want to know more about it before you go, then you had better not read on as there are pictures of the sets that may spoil it for you. But believe me, nothing compares to seeing it for real!
I hope you won’t mind if I tell you I was not a Harry Potter fan. I had heard of Harry Potter and JK Rowling and the films and the books but I was never ‘into’ them. I hope I will not be sent to Voldermort’s realm.
When I received an opportunity to visit the Warner Bros London Studio Tour, I wanted to go more out of curiosity to see what everybody was raving about.
In the run up to the visit, I decided that to make the most of the visit, I needed to know more about Harry Potter. I was sent the films to review and we sat as a family and watched them everyday. We were hooked from the start. We looked forward to the next part of the box set each evening and when it was over, we could wait to visit the Harry Potter Studio.
The day dawned and the children and hubs and I were very excited. We knew all the characters and had totally immersed ourselves in the stories.
Besides, we were in for a treat – it was the week that that animals from the film were going to be visiting too.
When you book you tickets for the Stuido Tour, you get a entry time. We were due to be there by 12 pm and we were there much before time so we stopped off to have a little snack at the cafe.
And then, we were led in. I am not going to spoil it for you but I will just say that I thought the way in which we were introduced/led into the tour was awesome.
When the doors opened, we were led into the Great Hall. It was breathtaking. To see the films and then visit the sets is an amazing experience.
You can visit iconic sets like Dumbledore’s Office and the Gryffindor Common Room.
Diagon Alley
The Backlot consists of 4 Privet Drive and Hogwarts Bridge all spectacularly crafted with so much attention to detail.
The rooms which have the props and creature effects are a treat to walk through and you can literally see and recognise each and every character in the films.
We also met Hedwig!
And then the grand finale – the room that holds you spell bound.
It literally renders you speechless when you see each crafted detail of Hogwarth’s Castle. There is an audible hush when you enter that room with everyone busy enjoying the moment. For me, I could see images from the movie fly before me and it was an amazing experience.
Of course, you must not come away without tasting the butterbeer which was quite yum.
The gift shop is a bit expensive with a wand retailing at about £25 and though the children wanted a wand each, it was quite beyond budget as we would have to get three of them. We did pick up a fridge magnet to remember the day by. Although, it is a tour that is unforgettable, in my opinion.
I would say that if you are a Harry Potter fan this would be heaven for you. Even if you are not, like I wasn’t, I would still say that a visit to the Harry Potter Studio is a must. It is an experience that can be enjoyed by young and old. If you have the films at home, it would be a good idea to watch them before going just to make the entire tour so much more exciting.

I completely agree, we went last summer and it was the best one of those organised days out I’ve ever done. Like you, we were late coming to Harry Potter, but are obsessed now. We went with friends and one of the things I enjoyed most about it was watching the way the children related to it totally differently at different ages. Your photos are great, they took me right back there, and that castle is amazing isn’t it? A work of genius that you suddenly come upon it and it takes your breath away.
Looks like you had an amazing day! I’d love to visit the studios everyone seems to have had a wonderful time – must organise myself into going this spring.
