The story –
This never-ever-before-seen picture book by Dr. Seuss about making up one’s mind is the literary equivalent of buried treasure, and this beautiful slipcase collector’s edition does it full justice. A brother and sister visit a pet shop to pick a pet, but can’t decide which one to go for. Sometimes making a choice can seem impossible to a child, and What Pet…? explores how it is hard to make up your mind, but sometimes you just have to do it! The cliffhanger ending will also fire children’s imaginations and provoke discussion about their own choices.
What we thought –
We loved the book. It was quite funny like most of the Dr. Seuss’ books. It was fun trying to guess what pet the children would get and the cliffhanger made for good discussions on what they would like as a pet themselves. We discussed perfectly normal pets to the most crazy, imaginative pet they would like. You can imagine what the children came up with. I love books that provoke conversations as keep the story going and Dr. Seuss never fails on this level.
